Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation

Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

It refers to a wide range of problems that occur when the muscles of the pelvic floor are not functioning normally and are often too tight, and weak. There is often related impairments of the sacroiliac joint, low back, coccyx and/or hip joint, that accompany this condition, and can contribute to pain and loss of function. Due to the complexity of the anatomy and multiple functions of the pelvic region, the underlying cause of pelvic pain is difficult to determine, and the entire body must be treated holistically to resolve symptoms.

Pelvic Pain

Here at SoulCare we are experts in evaluating and treating the multifaceted condition of pelvic pain and pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD). We are trained to identify and address the multiple contributing factors of pelvic floor dysfunction.

Specializing in the treatment of pelvic pain and muscle weakness. This gentle approach involves opening up restrictions, improving mobility of the organs in the abdominal region, aligning the pelvis and overall posture as well as retraining the muscles using biofeedback. Retraining the pelvic floor and improving core strength involve muscle training in a specific coordination of movement.

This is not one size fits all treatment. It is an individualized program developed for you after a thorough evaluation.

Abdominal Surgery

Hysterectomy, C-section, bowel and bladder surgery, ectopic pregnancies, hernia repair, and all laparoscopic surgery. Surgery results in scar tissue which is tight and immobile and needs to be released to allow for more freedom of movement and elimination of pain. Myofascial Release is the method to allow these release.

Breast Surgery

Many women experience unnecessary pain post breast surgery, especially when expanders are placed in after surgery. Shoulder mobility limitations and edema are also common problems. There is no need to suffer through this. Myofascial Release is highly effective in helping the soft tissue to lengthen, to ease the pain of the tissue expanding after a mastectomy, decrease edema and restore full arm motion.

Pregnancy & Postpartum

Pregnancy

It’s an amazing time in a woman’s life, however is comes with great changes in the body. Not only are your hormone levels constantly changing but so is your posture and integrity of the soft tissue of your body including muscle and ligaments. The space in the abdomen that house the organs begins to be compressed as the baby grows. Many women experience low back pain, pelvic and hip pain to name a few. At SoulCare PT we can help you navigate the changes in your body, reduce your pain, prevent symptoms from becoming chronic, and keep you at your physical best.

Postpartum

The demands of caring for your newborn may cause back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and/or pelvic floor dysfunction. Many women experience pelvic pain, leakage, weakness of the core and pelvic floor muscles, separation of the abdominal wall known as diastase recti. If you are a nursing mom and are experiencing blocked milk ducts. Manual therapy can help release the blockage in one treatment, often without the need for any medications. You may have symptoms related to recovering from a Cesarean birth.  There may be pubic symphysis pain, coccyx pain, painful intercourse, scar tissue and adhesions.

At SoulCare  we have specialized training to determine if you have any postpartum dysfunction. This is not something you need to “learn to live with”.  It is not the new normal. We have many very successful treatments to alleviate all of these problems and more.
